Due to a Bing Search advertising glitch earlier this year, my email blew up with dozens of wedding inquiries from Georgia, Alabama, and Tenassee. I’ve never advertised there, shot a wedding there, or blogged about those states, so I was very confused.
Nevertheless, I offered to shoot each couple’s wedding if they would pay my travel costs! I was beyond excited when Mac & Micayla took me up on the offer!
Their wedding was at the beautiful Berry College in Rome, Georgia. It’s the largest college campus in the world, and is part of a nature preserve. The campus is more than 20,000 acres in size! Deer roam the fields and streets, and many old beautiful rock buildings dot the area.
I decided to drive down to Georgia a few days early so that we’d have a chance to take these beautiful couple’s pictures. The campus had a huge variety of scenery, including this cool old waterwheel. There’s no way I was going to pass up a chance to shoot there.
I love weddings like this because I love travel. It’s why I started shooting, after all. I spent my time this trip exploring local trails and hitting up local thrift stores for old Polaroids. After a couple days running around the wonderful town of Rome, Georgia, it was time for the wedding!
The reception was held at the beautiful Ford Building on campus. Yes! That’s a portrait of Henry Ford hanging above the DJ! He helped fund construction during the early years of the college.
What a beautiful day! I never knew Georgia could be so pretty. Mac and Micayla were wonderful. I wish them the best of luck in their new life together.
